living in peaceful new world

here i want to discuss a a small section of a pamphlet from the watch tower called "living in a new world" which promotes a peaceful new society based on very few texts

"the new earth will be a righteous SOCEITY - the new heaven will be a perfect heavenly KINGDOM or GOVERNMENT to rule over the earthly SOCIETY of people

is this possible to believe?

ANSWER

in short, the answer is no

but since i dont like working from plain assertions as this pamplet from the watch tower clearly has done, they have made an assertion in this claim though be it a very ambiguous one to the unfamiliar eye

here i will from 2 points

a -- what does this assertion really claim and what is the hidden point they are trying to convey

b -- what do these selected verses prove when clearly they have been taken aways from  the context  which helps us understand God purpose

point a

* it is a claim that the new world will be full of righteous people (jehovah witness only)

there two unspoken point the terms SOCEITY,  KINGDOM, GOVERNMENT these act as buzz words which point directly to the watchtower governing body and trat sociely .. and they claim to be the spokesman of God or prophet

this is an unfounded assumption on the part of the watch tower which they have read into the passages.. it is a pre - existing tradition of the watchtower  and the bible does not allow this kind of work to be done

the hidden message is that the new heaven and new earth are in one world ... this is in correct, they state the heaven "watchtower" will rule over the righteous people "jehovah witness'"

another problem point 1 faces is that this seems to indicate a believer is made righteous based on an unknown merit system to the bible -- self centeredness

but what is missing is the fact that this righteousness is not based on anything we can do, but solely rests in another .. the perfect work of Christ Jesus who perfectly saves and need no human interjection of works

so on this we have seen the unspoken pre supposition of the watchtower is not supported, and therefore we do not need to carry on this point as it completely refuted

point b

2 peter 3 :13

But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells

here we can do this in the following methods

* by the verse

* by the context

i favour both methods in most cases but here i will go with the 2nd method .. i will concentrate on verse 8 -13 as this gives us more undertand

But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.
Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn!  But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells -- 2 peter 3 :8 -13

from the context we see this will happen when all the elect are gathered (vs 8 -10)

"But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."

we see from the following words of scriptures that all matter will dissolve

"But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed"

so we see whatever the new heaven and heaven will be , they wont be like that of the old but full of righteousness -- christs righteousness that is

isaiah 65 : 17

“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.

i will do the same with this as before -- by utilising the context and drawing from it the vital points

“For behold, I create new heavens and a new eart and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.
But be glad and rejoice forever in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a joy,
and her people to be a gladness.
I will rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in my people; no more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping and the cry of distress.
No more shall there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not fill out his days,
for the young man shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner a hundred years old shall be accursed.
They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat, for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be,and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.
They shall not labor in vain or bear children for calamity, for they shall be the offspring of the blessed of the Lord, and their descendants with them.
Before they call I will answer; while they are yet speaking I will hear.
The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox,
 and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt or destroyin all my holy mountain,” says the Lord.-- isaiah 65 :17 -25

note that verses 17 -20 that we are given a fundamental understanding of what this new world will be like its going to be pure and beautiful, nothing of old will be remebered .. sin and evil

at this point we are given a limited understanding of what the new person in christ will be like, there is a greater body of information in the new testament, so on this we wont go futher as isaiah does give us the very intricate details

the only thing i need to point out is that this does nt fit the watch toer belief as they have added thing the passage does not indicate

as for the additonal verse given as support in psalms 89 :36 -37 and psalms 104 :5

1 --- psalms 89 :36 -39 is about christs eternal and soverign rule and not some ungodly ideology like the watchtower

but I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness.
I will not violate my covenant or alter the word that went forth from my lips.
Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David.
His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me.
Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies.” Selah -- psalm 89 :33 -37

note the words .. "Once for all I have sworn by my holiness; I will not lie to David.
His offspring shall endure forever, his throne as long as the sun before me"

this is telling us of someone from davids line who is not only a human but is eternal to one of his natures and is able sustain the rule of the kingdom
this is about one person not a society of ungodly people like watchtower

2 --- psalms 104 :5

this is an epic failure as we shall soon discover .. there is nothing in this about a new heaven or new earth, like the last psalm mentioned

this is about Gods soverien rule in creation of this present earth

Bless the Lord, O my soul!O Lord my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty,
covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent.
He lays the beams of his chambers on the waters; he makes the clouds his chariot he rides on the wings of the wind;
he makes his messengers winds, his ministers a flaming fire.

He set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be moved.
You covered it with the deep as with a garment;
 the waters stood above the mountains.At your rebuke they fled at the sound of your thunder they took to flight. The mountains rose, the valleys sank down to the place that you appointed for them.
You set a boundary that they may not pass,
so that they might not again cover the earth.
You make springs gush forth in the valleys; they flow between the hills; they give drink to every beast of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; they sing among the branches

note the nderlined verse are speaking of the creation of this present earth, and not of the new earth .. we get this all though this psalm
thinkcarefully "He set the earth on its foundations, so that it should never be moved.
You covered it with the deep as with a garment" .. it is the writer expressing his joy at the creation of the creators hands ... this speaking specifically to the bounds of the land and sea .. although God can make the sea do things that are odd
the real importance is that they are fixed to their locations
