is mormonism a christian sect or is it a cult?
to know the answer to this question we must examine some of their teachings to accurately understand whether they are truly are christian -- the following are some points to find out if they agree or distort to any degree
Is the bible the true word of God and the final authority, which never has been corrupted as far as doctrine and prophecies, and ...the main point of the revelation (here by corruption i am not referring to textual corruption .. which is a scholarly point which indicates varients with in the whole body of witness' or manuscripts)
do they agree on the nature of God , which orthodox christianity / historic christianity have come to believe due to taking the whole bible revelation into account, the method of salvation
how does one relate to God in terms being his creation (are we created in his image, or were we pre - existing spirit children .. who can attain some level of divinity in the next life) and is this life we live a potter to clay understand or is there something different
is lucifer a creature being an angel or is he something more
to each of the questions above when we consider them the answer that the mormon related scriptures tell us will give us an indication as to how to veiw them , and where they fall in terms of a christian sect or a christian cult

Q . 1
Is the bible the true word of God and the final authority, which never has been corrupted as far as doctrine and prophecies, and the main point of the revelation (here by corruption i am not referring to textual corruption .. which ...is a scholarly point which indicates varients with in the whole body of witness' or manuscripts)
this has several points ....
A ---- they believe that the bible is corrupt in what it teaches, and that you need the mormon related documents .. the book of mormon, pearl of great price, doctrine and covenants as an aid to understand the bible and make it complete
therefore they have a seriously damaging understanding in there answer --- as they believe it is crorrupt
B ---- as long as they are bound by their traditions they never fully know what is the word of God ... since there faith does not allow for any recent development in the manuscript traditions .. they are like the king james onlyist they believe the king james is the nearest you can get to the truth of the bible
C ---- they also class the rest of the doctrine and practices of the orthodox christian faith as abominations -- they we have wonder from the original truth and started to believe doctrines according to men
Q. 2
do they agree on the nature of God , which orthodox christianity / historic christianity have come to believe due to taking the whole bible revelation into account,
to answer this we have to have some of there teachings to work from
God used to be a man on another planet (Mormon Doctrine, p. 321; Joseph Smith, Times and Seasons, vol. 5, p. 613-614; Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses, vol. 2, p. 345; Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 333).
"The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as mans..." (D&C 130:22).
these two sayings from their writings help us understand how they veiw God ... they officail belief which may not be known to all mormons, is that God was an exalted man who acheieved Godhood .. and this man God was on another planet .. and now has his own planet
on the trinity --- they veiw it like this now
The trinity is three separate Gods: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. "That these three are separate individuals, physically distinct from each other, is demonstrated by the accepted records of divine dealings with man," (Articles of Faith, by James Talmage, p. 35).
note i said they veiw it as this now .. meaning it has not always the case .. in the beginning joseph taught they were one God .. but other time it has become three Gods which is false -- note they uses terminology which seens to be in line with what we believe but thats as far as it goes .. it appears to be
That these three are separate individuals, physically distinct from each other, --- as they mean 3 distinct and separate Gods --- The trinity is three separate Gods
Q . 3
how does one relate to God in terms being his creation (are we created in his image, or were we pre - existing spirit children .. who can attain some level of divinity in the next life) and is this life we live a poter to clay understand or is there something different
this is an interesting question ... as a bible believing christian .. i believe we are related as a potter to the clay, creator -- creation
however they have a radically different veiw
After you become a good Mormon, you have the potential of becoming a god (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345-347, 354).
"Then shall they be gods, because they have no end; therefore shall they be from everlasting to everlasting, because they continue; then shall they be above all, because all things are subject unto them. Then shall they be gods, because they have all power, and the angels are subject unto them," (DC 132:20).
so the relatedness is one of achievement through good works and the reward is becoming a god over your own planet --- this is a foreign concept to the bible -- prehaps even demonic like what satan said to eve in the garden
but it gets worse
Brigham Young said, "When the time came that His first-born, the Saviour, should come into the world and take a tabernacle, the Father came Himself and favoured that spirit with a tabernacle instead of letting any other man do it. The Saviour was begotten by the Father of His spirit, by the same Being who is the Father of our spirits," (Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, 1857, p. 218).
"The birth of the Savior was a natural occurrence unattended with any degree of mysticism, and the Father God was the literal parent of Jesus in the flesh as well as in the spirit," (Religious Truths Defined, p. 44, as cited in the book, Mormonism: Shadow or Reality, by Gerald and Sandra Tanner, Utah Lighthouse Ministry, P.O. Box 1884, Salt Lake City, Utah 84110, bookstore at 1358 South West Temple, 1982, p. 260).
Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers," (Mormon Doctrine, 1966, p. 547).
"And Christ was born into the world as the literal Son of this Holy Being; he was born in the same personal, real, and literal sense that any mortal son is born to a mortal father. There is nothing figurative about his paternity; he was begotten, conceived and born in the normal and natural course of events,...Christ is the Son of Man, meaning that his Father (the Eternal God!) is a Holy Man." (Mormon Doctrine, by Bruce McConkie, p. 742).
the above references give us a completely blasphemous account of how jesus came to be a man ... God the father became a man and impregnated mary .. so jesus is according to these document the literal son of the literal father -- this is blasphemous not only to God, but to the blessed mother of jesus
and it goes against the biblical record
Q4
is lucifer a creature being an angel or is he something more ?
well the biblical revelation is that lucifer or satan was one of the angels .. who rebelled against God and was kicked out of heaven with a host of angelic beings who became demons (revelation 12)
The Devil was born as a spirit after Jesus "in the morning of pre-existence," (Mormon Doctrine, p. 192.)
Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers and we were all born as siblings in heaven to them both, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 163.)
the above reference shows that even satan is considered to be a spirit child and brother to jesus and all the rest of us ... this is not biblical but a false ideal
