Introduction
In the original article the author list several people as people who he was influenced by as "a Christian," and it is important for us to lay some ground in order for us to understand where he came from. And it will provide us a platform from which we can assess these questions from the prospective in which he is coming from and why he abandoned what he believed was the Christian faith and is now attacking the bible from a false position.
Notice these people of whom were his influences in the "faith" that he believed was the true faith of Christ. He states:
I have lived as a faithful Christian for the first half of my life. My apostasy began with the introduction of such authors as Napoleon Hill, Brian Tracy, Norman Vincent Peale and Anthony Robbins. The lessons I had learned from their concepts of how faith really works as a functional component of the human brain led me to scrutinize "God's word" and present questions that point to inconsistencies that Christians have no sufficient answer for.It is right here that the problem begin, for he says he lived as "a faithful Christian" which we all know is not true; he lived a life where he believed he was saved but the reality is that he was not. For if he were a true Christian, one who was truly in Christ (an elect) he would never walk away from the faith; indeed he never could.
The error lies in the fact that he has no earthly clue as to what true Christianity is; and therefore, could easily adopt false idea of the new age -self-help idealistic views of people like "Napoleon Hill, Brian Tracy, Norman Vincent Peale," of whom can never be identified as Christians, they are false teachers who lived to deceive people.
Here is what the bible teaches on such people as these men:
I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. . (2 Timothy 4:1-4)The basic point in this is that many "who profess to be Christians" will turn away from the truth of the Gospel; and wonder into myths (as does this man as we can plainly see from his introduction). They will "accumulate themselves teachers to suit their own passions" and this is just what this man has done in his own search for something better, some thing new and fresh. And as a part of that search he has now turned on the bible based on these false teachers words.
Now let us consider the questions that he has to ask of all Christians but notice how this line of thought can not have any justification for its criticism, it falls apart.
Questions and Answers part 1
1 - If God is omnipotent (all-powerful), why did he take six days to create everything? Why not speak everything into existence all at once? Now to understand this question, we must first understand the fact that it comes from a "Word of faith" understanding. Where it is believed that Man can speak things into existence; we see it continually with the teachers of this movement who claim that it is a necessity of being made in the image of God.
The problem, however, is found in the fact that man cannot and will never be a creator in the manner God is. He is the ultimate creator of all things. He does not need to draw the plans and submit it to a committee of peers to have assessed for soundness.
In God's case, he chose to create everything in the universe as a demonstration of his sole glory; The purpose in creation was ultimately to show his grace in redeeming man from his fallen state. Everything that happens is apart of his decree. And this includes the 6 days of creation. We may ask has a man ever created anything form the very word "go."
So the question of "Why not speak everything into existence at once?" Because he chose not to do it this way; of course, he could if he chose to do so. Obviously, the question has a hidden agenda behind it. And we must insist that the teaching behind such an objection is false. For it teaches that Man being created in the image of God can do the very things that God does. This is blatantly false. Listening to these false teachers leads spiritual bankruptcy
2 - Why won't God heal amputees? This question assumes that God has promised he will physically heal every single kind of deformity that man can experience. But God has not give such a promise to man, the only promise he has given is that every man will be heal spiritually at different points in time. It is rather rash for man, a mere mortal to even assume the role Judge and criticize God on things man believe he needs to do in order to prove himself.
So why does God not heal an amputee? Simply because it is not apart of his purpose and plan in this world. Everything that befalls man, in this world is a result of man's fall and is in the long run apart of God eternal decree. To assume that God must physical heal every human is to assume far too much and place too much self centeredness in the view finder.
Scripture is clear on the issue of all these matter, in Roman 8:28 we read: "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." For sure there are Christian who have been in a situation where they lost their limbs. But in the midst of it all, they praised God because they understand that he purposes in their lives are far greater.
3 - If God is so perfect, then why did he create something so imperfect allowing pain, suffering and daily atrocities? This question is rigged in a false assumption. And that of course, is the fact that he assumes God created a world that's "imperfect" but it is far from the truth. Genesis chapters 1-3 details for us that creation in its original state was perfect .. this is seen by the confirmation of everything being "good" at the end of each creation day.
And it also lacks the true picture, in that Adam and Eve were created perfect, but upon their days they fell into sin through Satan's deception in Genesis 3. He tricked Eve into doubting God and his word. And as a result everything was cursed from the very foundation of creation.
4 - Why did the little old lady that God healed one Sunday need her walker to get around again next Sunday? Was she only temporarily worthy of a healing?Interesting. The very concept of the church that he attended or is witness of is one that is steeped in false teaching of the word of faith heresies. But this has nothing to do with God and his truth. It has everything to do with false teacher who manipulate the church into believing they are workers of God and doing his will.
It is important to note, that i feel great compassion to wards such people who are being led into this dangerous monstrosity. That they claim as "Christianity" but it is not, it is in fact a new age deception.
Notice what the following scripture states, "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Jesus our Lord in these words tell us that the ones who "did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?" are those of whom he say "
‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’" It is because they are not true believers, they are not his people. They in fact are Satan's workers (2 Thessalonians 2)
5 - How did Noah fit the millions and millions of species of animals on this planet into his ark? It doesn't take a mathematical genius to realize the physical impossibility of this.Read the bible! It was not millions of animal; it was 7 pairs of clean animals, 2 of the unclean animal and 7 pairs of birds. They didn't have to be large animal, they could have infant animals which would later pair up and procreate.
6 - If Noah did fit all of these species on the ark for forty days and forty nights, how did the penguins make it from Mt. Ararat to the Antarctic? How did the koala bears make it to Australia with no eucalyptus to eat along the way? This question is an interesting one. Lets consider it briefly: (1) How different animals get from one place to another? There is a possibility that some migrated as many animals do today. And others found better places to relocate after the flood. Penguins obviously got to the Antarctic some how possible from swimming as they are expert simmers.
(2) Many animals come to adapt and change their manner of living in relation to new environments and climate changes. After the flood, many animal would have to adapt to such facts, for the world was a drastically new environment to live in.
But none of this is even an issue to an all-knowing God. One who decreed for such chances to be necessary for animal to survive in a foreign climate and a foreign place,
7 - Why do innocent children have to suffer with terminal diseases such as cancer? What part of 'God's plan' is this exactly?Again, there is a flawed presupposition in this kind of question. What exactly does the person mean by "Innocent" according what stand does one get to make a judgement of this nature. Is it by God's standard or mans.
I will always bow my understanding of thing to the bible. And it tells us that due to the fall, every man was radically and fundamentally altered: Man from the first person to come from Adam and Eve has always been born with sinful nature. There no innocence in this matter.
But possibly there is a place where this can be stated otherwise; and that is the fact that no baby is born with personal sin. they are born with that kind of innocence; which later in life the corrupt nature seeks to drive the intentions of mans heart to full blown sin.
Why are children born with life threatening illnesses and diseases? That is a great question and one that I have seeked to answer biblically. But now lets just think this through, If God does not exist then we would never have the foundation to these questions All death, disease and sickness is a necessary consequence of the fall.
But what is even more notable science itself does not even know the cure for most diseases because they cannot determine its course because the scientists reject the creator and his word as the only answer to such questions.
so the answer to this is: God decrees such things to exists for a single purpose.. in order that we shed any confidence in ourselves and totally depend upon him for what he has in store. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5 )
8 - How is it that the bible explains the earth to be 6,000 to 8,000 years old when we know that dinosaur bones are at least 65 million years old? This isn't the only example of our planet's age by any means, either. Now here is a question that pits the biblical world view and the naturalist atheistic world view against each other. It is not a battle of God and science as some assume; it must be seen that without God nothing makes sense, language to communicate idea would be meaningless. In fact one Atheist has already said that "words do not have an mean, only a usage."
The thing we must understand is this all scientific field that are viable and just philosophical in nature started from the biblical world view. This is a well known fact. One which another Atheist admitted to correct a few short years ago.
While I do believe the universe to be relatively young; I can not be certain on the exact age but 6000-7000 year is really good place to begin. But it could be less or more than those ages, but no more 10,000. Either way science has not conclusively proven the age that man assigns to the data.
As for the "dinosaurs bones being a 65 million years old." The evidence does not even begin to suggest such an age; this is once again, is man's opinion, a presupposition that is read into the evidence. One question need to be asked of these people, how can they even begin to determine an age for something without being there when the creature actually lived. They can't. The application for testing something is only as useful as the man who interprets it. It is at the end of the day a guessing game.
This question fails to even get off the ground. We are all sinners worthy of death; but the fact, that many are forgiven is an act of grace. And the fact that a man who is forgiven and is transferred from the darkness of sin to the light of glory in Christ would never do that which goes again the new life in Christ.
9 - Why can't the all-powerful God forgive someone of their sins after they die? Example: A Christian man that is seemingly on God's good list makes a stupid decision and decides to drink a little too much at the fish fry. On his way home he crashes into a mini-van killing a mother, her two children and his self. This man led a very faithful life and made one stupid, yet grave mistake. If this man did not ask for forgiveness of his sins before the electrical activity in his brain ceased, then God will judge him and send him to hell to burn for eternity.
Let us not deal hypothetical scenario's as they do not exist in reality. I only deal with biblical truth and the reality of it.
This question presents a faulty and imbalanced view of the truth. First of all, man naturally being sinner from birth. Can only seek that which in accords to that nature; he continuously sins against God. The Tri personal -God who created him. And God seeks out those of whom he has chosen to bestow grace and mercy upon and has left other to face just judgement for the sinfulness that is theirs.
10 - God wants everyone to worship and follow him and, if they don't, they burn in hell for all eternity. What does this type of attitude say about his character? By definition, he would be described as a tyrant
In other words, God created man . First as a demonstration of his glory and his love for his Son. And second, to have perfect worship with him. But man (Adam)fell into sin through disobeying a direct command. And as a result all men fell due to that one sin (Romans 5:12-21).
God in his infinite justice would be perfectly right in judging us and sending each and every one of us to hell. But in infinite grace and mercy, he chose not to do so, he from eternity past set his love on individual who did not deserve such gifts and chose them in Christ, And in time, he regenerates man implanting faith in Christ and repentance of sin. He unites and secures those he chooses in Christ death and resurrection (the symbols of baptism and communion are an outward working of this) Having been united in him, God preserves and courses us to persevere in faith by conforming us to the image of his beloved son.
