the mormon statemnt and our refutation part 2

in an attempt at get people to believe in the book of mormon, mormons often refer to the single line of james 1 :5
which reads follows "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God" ... the best thing for us to do is examine the context to see if this one verse is being utilised in an honest fashion or if there is some dishonesty involved in the premise

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways

this passage is beautiful and very deep ... the mormon claim of paying about a revelation if it true or not .. is a false application of the passage .. so what does this mean .. well lets examine this passage than draw a conclusion

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him

--- this is the first point that needs to be understood .. when it says "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God," ... this is not saying to ask whether something is true .. especial another revelation or supposed revelation
this actually means ... if you lack understanding of this scripture, pray to God to reveal wisdom of the scripture ... in another sense it can only refer to deeper knowledge of every scripture in this book the biblical revelation
it wont speak to something which is in doubt due to its contradictory basis ...
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind

in this we have two clues as to the fact of my identification above being the true understanding

a -- ask in faith .. was joseph in faith or unsure of it ... and how can we not take this point as it should that we must ask in faith for understanding of his word to be able to communicate it too others
b -- with no doubting .. think about what this means ... we must have no doubts in what it says but inquire for wisdom into the deeper aspects of the bible ...

now here is an intersting phrase .. which could be discriptive joseph smiths mind and any one who goes on to head a cult "for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind" .. this speaks to the unstableness of how one looks to the bible and its truth ... and the way their lives dipict the next point

For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways

note the first part ... "For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord" .... this can only speak to an individual who has no place in the faith .. cause if he was in the faith .. or was deeply faithful .. God would not fail to empart something for his faithful believer grow
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways

double minded ... could speak to an on edged approach, or constantly speaking in fallacious words and self contradictory messages
unstable .. this speaks to the complete lack of unstanding ... it is seen in in one of peters letter in a simalar fashion as discribing the fact that unstable men will twist scripture to their own distruction

the conclusion is that the general point is that all true believers are to ask for deeper incite from God .. ones who are in faith and have no doubts .. as to the truth of the bible, however there are point which can be seen as a method of testing for a false prophet in this passage, but they only come in manner of false applications .. or misreading its scope

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

they will also make this passage apart of their case .. for the truthfulness of the book and their prophet joseph smith
this is is found in moroni 10 :4 -5

And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things

as with all the information given in the first part ... to the contray the passage is really just a fire storm as it lights many different issues some of which i have addressed in this article
but here i wish to speak to this passage in some depth

this passage seem to the barrier breaker or so the mormon world believe but with many difficulties that arise from the book, and all the other related writings it makes it very easy to dismiss .. since they have made it so that praying is sole manner of knowing if it true ... yet history reveal a very different picture for this faiths book
to even contemplate this task is to be dishonest with truth and reality ....

a problem arises from the wording of this passage .. are we ask if this is a true revelation or if is not true .. "I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true" .. this seems to suggest the opposite to what mormons believe it to say
they say that it is the true word of God and this serves as a test of that truth ... but this say if it is not true .... could it be false

the next thing in this statement that is rather odd ... after seeing the last realisation .. it continues onto say "and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ" .... from this are we to assume that if it is believed to be true .. and we recieve a warning about it being false then we are being insincere, have no intent and are lacking faith .. ot is the it the opposite case that morms have no sincerity, lack intent and faith ?

but the bottom line is if there is any reality made for the claims of mormonism and its revelation .... the momon has to assume based on such a flimsy reasoning process ... no historical facts to prove it true, no archeological fact to prove it is true, but what we do have is false prophey, changes in the mormon revelation, and flat out lies and contradictions
so the question to ask who is being sincere in their quest for truth the christian or mormon?
