Sometimes there are men who rise up in the ranks and they are not at all wholesome individuals; the type of teachings typically show a very misguided avenue of thought.. one way is to quote the bible then deny its power
in two videos of this man Jan boshoff ..... by the titles "all our righteous deeds will be like filthy rags" and "judgement on Christians"
in the first statement . he states
the devil takes one scripture and turns it around he twists it to deceive wicked people who will listen to him, and one of those scriptures the devil uses to mislead people is Isaiah 64 . 6 "he says all our righteous deeds are like filthy rags" and this one verse is used as an excuse to sin
My response
firstly this is a false impression he leads his followers to assume and believe ... this passage is not quoted in order to allow sin, in fact it is to show 2 things
a) no amount of good deeds will guarantee you eternal life as it s gift of grace that one is given eternal life
b) our own sinfulness is seen in the good we do and also the bad we do
secondly the context if accurately .. which never was by boshoff ... reveal mans intentions are pure evil to the core
this passage is not directly the word of God .. but is still an inspired truth ... and Isaiah is repeating a known truth of God .. which God spoke 4 chapters earlier
in Isaiah 59 : 12 -16
For our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us;
for our transgressions are with us, and we know our iniquities:
13 transgressing, and denying the Lord, and turning back from following our God,
speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart lying words
Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands far away;
for truth has stumbled in the public squares, and uprightness cannot enter.
15 Truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.
this is the 3rd of 4 times God has revealed this truth not Isaiah other places can be found n Isaiah 6 1 -7, Isaiah 53, Isaiah 64
thirdly this is man attempt to cat doubt on Christians who read and study but also allow the bible to defines own teachings through exegesis of the texts .. this also reveals that Jan is the one whom distorts the scripture like the devil does .. in this one sentence he reveals a strawman ... in saying " this one verse is used as an excuse to sin"
this is a desperate attempt at justifying his own false hood
in his second statement .. he states
i woke up last night and the lord Jesus said to me : "i will judge my children" as children of God we need to be utterly obedient .. if we disobey he will severely punish us -- he will chastise us there are many who carry the name christian but they don't walk as children of light
My response
this may seem like it is in line with the scriptures he quotes --- 1 -- Hebrews 10 26 -30 and 2 -- 1 peter 4 17 -18... but no hope there
firstly with any vision we have to test it in accord to scripture as a whole and not just a few
we need to be obedient .. chastise us .. there are some questions that need to asked
a -- how does he know what he heard was true
b -- how does he know was not being deceived as made reference to other Christin's
secondly the scriptures given
For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgement, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge his people
this passage does not say God will judge the believers but that they the new believer if they go on sinning after receiving the knowledge of truth
this is the key "knowledge of truth" this does not refer to salvation in and of itself but a taste of the spirit ... a head knowledge a superficial understanding of the faith
but also consider the following "expectation of judgement" how else can we understand this term ... if they were truly saved . they would have no fear
there is one way this can apply if they were not true believers in the beginning ... as 1 john 2 : 19 there sin would still be in their flesh
consider the following words "How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant
here's where the most important factors come in
* the punishments fit the crimes of a) spurned and b) profaned
can true born again Christians do this to their lord the answer is simple .. not on their lives so what is this speaking too false converts
the word spurned mean to trample on / underfoot .. to mock, to disrespect and / or reject through carelessness of our love
so in effect to carry on sinning is something a false christian will do ... not a true christian they led by the spirit of truth .... the false christian the sacrifice has no meaning to them in this their action showing their disrespect and disbelief
For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
18 And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”

The Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.
16 He saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no one to intercede;
then his own arm brought him salvation,

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God's will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good
the whole section is about christian suffering and Gods predestined application.those who hate the idea of predestination can not answer this ..
but a Calvinist as we believe in these things ....
God knows the end results and the means --- or as we call it the decree and the command
a--- the decree .. the sufferings of the Christians , b --- the command .... that the Christians must preach the gospel which results in the persecution of the believers
and in this very fascinating verse we see this is all in Gods plan for his own purpose and glory "For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?"
note these words .."it is time for judgement" ... the acts of these men to the church are in Gods plan that his own will suffer for the sake of Gods glory and the unspeakable punishment for those who do this, due to disobeying the gospel
but here is an interesting thing in a another video called "the bible is not the word of God ... he states the following "the spirit is giving to discern which words in the bible are from God and which are from man"
such a statement makes all his attempts a failure if we take his logic ... on all cited passages how does he know they are Gods word and not mans . where is the discerning in these videos
also consider a few words from another video called "we are not called to be biblical" he states the following words .."religious people comply to a book, it must be biblical .. Jesus never requires us to be biblical ... just pleasing to him
note that the man is inconsistent in his approach he wants us to be ignoring the bible while he goes an quotes it to try to make his point .. then claims Jesus was not biblical ....
has he actually read the Bible carefully.... for example in the following passages Matthew chapter 5 -7, 15, 19 and 22
